Everything we do, from the moment you first take out your policy, is about making sure we can pay your claim when the time comes. Life Insurance is about being your financial safety net if the worst were to happen.
That's why we do what we do.
We're sorry for your loss. We know the process of making a claim may feel overwhelming, so we'll do everything we can to support and guide you.
The best place to start is by letting us know you want to make a claim via phone (0800 22 22 23) or email (ask@pinnaclelife.co.nz). We’ll walk you through the process and let you know what information we need to assess your claim.
We will always require certain documents, and there may be additional documents needed, such as a probate, which we will inform you about as we review your claim. Here is a list of documents we typically need:
1. Proof of identity, such as a birth certificate or passport.
2. A copy of the insured person’s death certificate.
3. A coroner's report, if one has been issued.
4. A completed claim form (please contact us for this).
Email your claim form and prepared documents to ask@pinnaclelife.co.nz. In some instances, where we may not be able to accept electronic versions, you may need to post some documents to us.
Our team will review your claim and contact you if we need any additional information. After receiving everything we need, we aim to process and pay claims within 10 business days.
Once approved, we'll send confirmation, and your claim will be paid out.

For most policies, the claim payment will be made to the policy owner, their beneficiary, or the policy owners estate. For a mortgage, income protection, or funeral cover policy, any payment will be made to the nominated beneficiary.
